Illegal Solicitation

Our community has recently been targeted by two different solicitors.  Since we clearly have “no soliciting” signs posted at every entrance to our neighborhood, these activities are illegal and constitute trespassing- even if the person has a city issued solicitor’s badge.

The first individual has a solicitor’s badge and is a mid-20s white male with a curly handlebar mustache, selling alarm systems for Arm Security.  He has been warned by Paul (CAM/Office Manager) as well as by several members of the board to leave the neighborhood, yet has returned- especially late in the evening.  Since he has been warned and refuses to comply with our no solicitation policy, if you encounter him please call the Orlando Police Department’s non-emergency number (321-235-5300) and report suspicious activity or contact the office during business hours at 407-658-8868.  Perhaps a police escort out of the neighborhood may deter him from returning.

The second solicitation action was someone taping flyers about lawn services communitywide.  These flyers appeared to be a printed off email, and made it appear that this service was supported or contracted by the Homeowner’s Association.  This is not the case.  Paul is working on contacting the company to warn them about violating a “no soliciting” neighborhood.

Please remember that solicitors are not only a nuisance, but they can be dangerous.  Many criminals pose as solicitors to “case” houses for robbery.  If they come by a house several times at the same time of day and find no one home- they learn that no one is home then- and that is when they strike.  As a community we should look out for one another against criminals and bothersome salespersons.  Once again, if you encounter someone soliciting, please contact the Orlando PD or the office.  Together we can make our community a safer place.
